Leeds Town Hall and The Mint Hotel Wedding Photography | Mai and Rob 17.12.11

This is the first of two wedding days for Mai and Rob.  The second will be in Thailand – Bangkok where Mai is from in the spring. 

Their first wedding ceromony takes place at the Leeds Town Hall with a small reception party at The Mint Hotel.

Despite living in Leeds over 10 years, this was my first time shooting a ceremony at The Leeds Town Hall. I have been in countless times and walked past watching other wedding parties having their photographs taken. 

Mai and Rob’s ceremony was at 3.45pm. Mai entered the Town Hall… day light and sunny They left together husband and wife into the dark winters evening. They braved the freeeezing cold for a few couple portraits by the entrance to The Town Hall, capturing the beautiful Christmas lights wrapped the columns and we headed to the  The Mint Hotel. 

It was a small wedding, only 20 guests and only Mai wanted getting ready photos… The wedding in Thailand is set to be the big party.

I asked Faye who works in Renaissance and her ever so cute daughter, if they would star in my new studio promotional material!

Happy to oblige … I discussed my idea  ’A Portrait of a Mother’s Love’

A portrait capturing the beauty of a mother’s love, an unbreakable bond between mother and daughter.

Also to do some gorgeous photos of her daughter on her own for a bit of fun.

Faye’s 4 year old daughter turned up to the studio in a big sulk.  But it only took a little asking her to show me her fairy/princess dress, wand and wings to make her smile YEY!

Total transformation…. she couldn’t to get into costume and strike the poses quick enough. What a little Star.

Here’s proof I do shoot colour!  haha.. I just prefer black and white myself. Faye (the mummy) chose both black and white and some colour versions too.

Having recently opened the new studio in December, I thought I would take advantage of Gabrielle (for once !!! hehe ) and get her to brush up on her studio portraits technique at the same time taking some arty/creative couple portraits of my partner and I for our home.

My partner are both artists and fancied something a little different for our walls. A portrait that represents us at the same time being a piece of art in its self. So we decided upon silhouettes, this was so much fun and I didn’t have to worry about my hair or make up once!!!

Our idea was to frame our favorite 9 images in 1 huge frame.

on Location at Lister Park Bradford 25.11.11 

Dimple and Jatin wanted a winter engagement shoot in Indian clothing to start with so that they could frame some photos at their wedding next month in India. We suggested Lister Park as it was near by to where Jatin is from in Bradford.

After a few lovely shots in Indian clothing, some sunshine and a little rain they popped off to change so that we could create a different look.

Lauren and Adam’s Wedding Photography

Oulton Hall – Leeds – Yorkshire 05.11.11

Lauren and Adam were so lovely to be around, Lauren has the most infectious smile too  It was a very relaxed and super calm autumn wedding at Oulton Hall in Leeds, very close to home for us.

Oulton Hall is such an amazing venue, it rained most of the day – hey it’s an English wedding You have to expect rain!!  … so there was no going into the grounds for photos. But the venue has such a beautiful interior that there was no problem finding beautiful settings to capture the gorgeous couple smooching in.

Before the first dance the couple had a Chinese Lion Dancer for entertainment. This was fantastic I loved every minute. As part of the show the lion eats lettuce and oranges and then spits lettuce at the couple for good luck! FAB!

Beth and Jos’s wedding at The Yorkshire Sculpture Park near Leeds. 13-09-11

In the words of Beth & Jos 

”Sit down, relax, have a drink. The hard work is all over now, so let’s rock out!

To amuse yourself while we wait for the food we’ve given you a transfer to match Beth’s real one. Instructions are with the little bowls of water on your table.

Can you remember what you ordered for dinner? No? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. You ordered the Tomato Soup, then The Roast Monkfish, and then Crema Catalana.

Just so you’ve got a heads up on the rest of the evening, speeches and toasts will be after the starters, then after we’ve filled up all the corners with coffee and cake our friends Nick and Joel will spin some tunes. If you’re not the dancing type there are board games too, and cigars out on the balcony. Please don’t smoke out there until dinner is over though.

Thank you so much for coming, we’re so glad we can share all of this with you!”

Beth and Jos weren’t getting married until 5pm!!!  Beth was spending the morning rushing around putting the finishing touches on her very homemade wedding cake! which looked amazing, she even displayed the recipe on the table next to it!

I was asked to arrive around 2pm at Beth’s mum’s house in Halifax when Beth would be there to get ready.

11 pairs of converse!!!!  Well … thats how many I counted! What a cool idea! Even the flower girl was wearing her own little pair.

Meanwhile Gabrielle was with the boys….. I mean…. The Groom’s Men and Groom’s Women. and his mum.

Just before the group shots they all had to partake in group ‘take the washing line down’

Beth and Mum when Beth was a baby! Awwwwwwww.   Spotted this on the fridge.

 Then onto the fun bus. When everyone was seated the crazy driver shouted… ”Right I’ve got Lady GaGa Or Abba… which do you prefer?”

So funny… Everyone thankfully shouted Abba

It was a bumpy ride, and the champagne was cracked open …there were a few spillage’s.

Jos sees his bride tobe for the first time.

They wrote their own vows and oh my word… Gabrielle and I almost fell apart. I had to take a few deep breaths and concentrate

REALLY HARD to hold back the tears… a few got away though. Awwwwwww  love you guys xxxx

 lt started to rain ….  and made this photo even more beautiful. This is my personal favourite photo of the newlyweds!

 This tattoo was Beth’s engagement gift to Jos. A great background for the photos for their rings.

THEN I spotted Jos’s cufflink! OH MY WORD… I had to do this… I couldn’t stop laughing! The funniest ‘ring shot’ to date!

Gabrielle snapped a cheeky photo of me working hard

 Ok… I didn’t tell them to climb this! Two of the Groom’s Girls started climbing it whilst I was photographing the bridesmaids. Then they all ran over and started climbing too, even the flower girl had a good try. It made a fantastic shot though. Love it!

Showcasing at Wedding Fair in Leeds – 18th September 2011

On Sunday 18th September I will be exhibiting our Wedding Photography in Leeds at the Three Albion Place Wedding Fair. Visit us at: 3 Albion Place, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS1 6JL between 11am and 4pm.

Our table will be showcasing our Leeds Wedding Photography images and albums.  I will have information about our wedding photography packages on the stand to take away too. We’ll also have a big bowl of yummy Haribo rings for you to help yourselves to… thats if there’s any left
